WSIS | SDG

The “Connectivity for All” project addresses several WSIS action lines and contributes to several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • WSIS C1 – The Role of Governments: The government of Campeche has demonstrated a strong commitment to digital inclusion by allocating the necessary resources to ensure equal access to broadband for all, especially for the poorest communities.
  • WSIS C2 – Information and Communications Infrastructure: Connectivity for All has installed the necessary Public Digital Infrastructure to access the internet in both urban and remote locations that never had this service.
  • WSIS C3 – Access to Information and Knowledge: The project has facilitated access to information and educational resources online with digital libraries empowering citizens.
  • WSIS C4 – Capacity Building: Through training and educational resources provided, improves the digital skills of the population.
  • WSIS C8 – Cultural Diversity and Identity: The project supports the preservation and promotion of local cultural and linguistic diversity through Maya courses delivered in person and online through digital libraries.
  • WSIS C10 – Ethical Dimensions of the Information Society: “Connectivity for All” promotes a more just and egalitarian society by ensuring equitable broadband access regardless of geographic location and social status.

In terms of the UN SDGs:

We prioritize connectivity in educational centers from basic education to higher education, because as our governor Layda Sansores says: only education can equalize the unequal.

Promotes equal access to ICTs regardless of gender by ensuring equal access for girls, adolescents, youth and women to training, outreach and education events.

Promotes economic development by offering scientific outreach experiences to encourage vocations and preferences in children to motivate, firstly, their educational continuity towards higher secondary education and secondly, in their higher education training and in the selection of a career that will allow them to access a job with better remuneration rates in the future.

Through collaboration agreements with higher education institutions, 13 innovation laboratories were established that will receive high-level training in the technological aspect but also in entrepreneurship, so that they can become the creative technology-based companies that our state requires, taking advantage of the geographical extension of higher education institutions to horizontalize the technological benefits throughout the state.

By installing the Public Digital Infrastructure in the 300 localities, we reduce the digital divide in Campeche’s population and promote equality for all Campeche’s inhabitants by providing equal access to the Internet.

Supports the development of a more informed and just society.

The fundamental principle of the entire project is that the benefits of the digital economy reach all Campechanos, regardless of their geographic location or purchasing power. In short, as our governor says, the “Connectivity for All” project is to equalize the most unequal, aligning closely with the principles and objectives of the WSIS and the UN Agenda 2030.
